Community-Led Maternal Health Research

for Researchers

Self-paced | 6 CPD hours | Certificate on completion

Turn good research into work that families can feel.
This short, self-paced course helps experienced researchers design and deliver maternal-health studies with doulas and communities – trauma-aware, culturally safe, and non-extractive. You already know methods. We show you how to use them in real perinatal contexts, with integrity and impact.

Who It's For:

Researchers, clinicians, and evaluators working in maternal and perinatal health who want to strengthen PPIE/co-production, consent and safeguarding, and community feedback loops – without starting from scratch.

What You'll Learn

  • Reframe aims around outcomes that matter to families.

  • Design PPIE that shifts power (roles, decision rights, fair pay, accessibility).

  • Apply trauma-aware, culturally safe practice to recruitment, consent, and data collection.

  • Build safeguarding, risk, and data-protection pathways that fit perinatal realities.

  • Read the evidence with equity lenses and spot gaps/harms.

  • Close the loop: plain-language briefs and feedback pathways that influence practice.

    • Module 1 – Reframing the Brief: From Targets to What Matters
